Sirius warranty fulfilled, 6 months late

Sirius S50

Today after many phone calls and over 6 months, Sirius replaced my S50 radio. The first few months S50s were on backorder. Then my claim was cancelled because they said I hadn’t kept it active(apperently I needed to call in more often then every 2 weeks). Finally they ‘lost’ my order in the warehouse. Unfortunately, like any gadget, the value is highest in it’s first few months, and you can now get an S50 for $79 after rebate.

Some new FCC influence on this radio. It comes with an FM Out Plug to “ensure that your S50 radio operates properly and does not interfere with other radios.” It also now comes with a FM Direct Adapter to connect between the radio and the antenna. Like I’m going to split my dashboard open for that.

Wired Wood

The 460 Degrees Gallery (Lexus owned?) sent an email invite for an “afternoon of art, music and food” and “the hottest tech toys reviewed by WIRED magazine” from 11am-1pm today. I got there shortly after 11am and the pictured crane was blocking the front door. Finally finding my way inside I was told things have been backed up until 12:30pm. I came back around 1pm (crane still there), wandered around in the chaos again before leaving disappointed.

Seeing Arne Quinze’s wood sculpture (pictured) erected and torn apart was interesting though. A similar structure, Uchronia, was built and burnt at this year’s Burning Man Festival. I believe Arne is third from the left on the roof.

Bug
You many have noticed none of the permalinks are working (categories aren’t either).

After many calls to 1and1.com I was informed that their latest WordPress update has a bug. So until that’s fixed, I’m SOL.

God to again do Cocaine

Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton will again play “Cocaine” in concert. I’m surprised becoming sober didn’t make him play it more since it’s very anti-cocaine.

“I thought that it might be giving the wrong message to people who were in the same boat as me,” Clapton recently told The Associated Press.”

“But further investigation proved … the song, if anything, if it’s not even ambivalent, it’s an anti-drug song. And so I thought that might be a better way to do it, to approach it from a more positive point of view. And carry on performing it as not a pro-drug song, but just as a reality check about what it does.”

I can think of no better improvement to enter my life in the last few years than high definition television. It’s so visually stunning, one of the top-rated programs is simply sunrises from around the world.
