Can’t wait for the remote extension!
The Hedgehogg looks pretty convincing as Mario. Way better than Bob Hoskins.

This plug and play game takes a page from the Wii. A helicopter headband controls the character onscreen. Not knowing much about Manga, I vaguely recall seeing Doreamon, the earless cat robot before.
and it’s fantastic.
You can browse AP news by category(there’s about 10, ranging from sports to technology) or hop on the globe and look around by area. Each article is easy to read from the couch, unlike the Opera browser channel, and the categories run like an RSS reader, making for a quick visual scan. The globe browsing is great because you can see exactly where something is happening. Much needed for us Americans who generally lack geography skills.

The game is completely luck, socializing is minimal (everyones busy rolling or scoring) and watching people flip coins or play ‘war’ with a deck of cards would probably be more exciting.
Basically everyone rolls dice for six rounds trying to match each die to the round number. If someone rolls three of a kind, three 1’s in round 1 for example, they score a BUNCO and win the round. There’s a 1 in 216 chance of this happening.
I know all of the above because I had to sit through 13 hours of housewives playing BUNCO yesterday. Fortunately the event raised some money to fight breast cancer.
This is currently at $41 on ebay. Weighing in at 7 ounces, buttlesscutlass78 might want to think of making more than 3 of these. Might also want to keep it off the floor….

The man behind Project Grizzly (the topic of Quentin Tarantino’s favorite film of 1996) has a new protection suit ready for soldiers.
The whole suit comes in at 18 kilograms. It covers everything but the fingertips and the major joints, and could be mass-produced for about $2,000, Hurtubise says.”
The winner of the “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest was promised a Nintendo Wii video game system.”

I’ve had gamefly for almost a month now and I couldn’t be happier. It’s basically the same as netflix, of which I’m also a customer. The past two games got back to me really quickly, so I looked into it on their site. Apparently they send your next game as soon as the post office scans in your return when you drop it off.
“FastReturnTM will start the processing of your next game as soon as we receive confirmation from the U.S. Postal Service that a game has been returned in the mail. You may no longer need to wait until we receive the returned game in our warehouse before we send the next available game in your GameQ!”
For the record, I still haven’t lost control of my Wii remote, nor has anyone playing in my presence. This shirt did remind me to order the new strap from Nintendo’s recall though.

On startup the Wii is organized into a set of ‘channels’ to choose from, just activated was the forecast channel. It includes the standard 5-day forecast, UV index, highs and lows. The real treat is a globe that you can grab and spin, which works much like Google Maps.
Madden football will use the channel for real time weather conditions for games. I imagine other tie-ins are too come.

Gamespot took a bunch of identical screenshots from the Xbox 360 and PS3 and compared them. They run through 8 games and show all the comparisons.

Check out this series of photos showing the merger of an original NES and a guitar. The end product turned out great, especially considering his crazy cutting tool.

I heard every EB Games is getting a shipment of Nintendo Wiis in time for their 7am opening tomorrow. I’m going to mosey down to one at 6:30am (the earliest I’ve been up in months) to see if I can score a Wii and Excite Truck (yes I’m nearing 30). Hopefully I don’t have to plow any old ladies to the ground on my way to the register.
update:I was 3rd in a line of 10 this morning (Black Friday) and got one of the 5 Wiis they had. The controller works better than I could have imagined and the included Sports Pack is a good starting point for what could be a nice evolutionary branch of gaming controllers.
