White Castle wedding
Monday, January 8th, 2007This isn’t Clerks 2 and the bride is no Rosario Dawson.
Pictured is actually a different wedding at White Castle!
The local carpet commercial at the beginning of the clip is an added bonus.

I would have starved in college and in the lean years to follow without this man!
Currently just a design, this grill would attach to a balcony rail and allow us urbanites to cook outdoors like suburbinites and country folk.
Nice idea, but it likely won’t fly with most condos.
Also check out neatorama’s top 10 coolest grills, although they missed the Johnsonville’s Big Taste Grill.

Confuse guests with the “Don’t Ashtray” by Josh Owen. $11.50.
update: I have a feeling this ashtray is even better at discouraging smokers.
“Surumail postcards consist of dried surume squid (Todarodes pacificus), the local seafood specialty. The squid jerky is flattened and vacuum-packed into the shape of a postcard, and an adhesive label is included for the postage, delivery address and a short message.”
A Japanese post office sells them for $3, but it’s unclear as to whether they are available outside of Japan.

Confused Texan Craig Baker held pig races and a cookout to protest an Islamic association’s plans to build a mosque next to his property. Apparently he first got angry when they asked him to move his cows off their property. He thought they also meant off his own property. Despite conceding that the muslims weren’t after his land and the association stating the pig race doesn’t offend them, Baker said it had gone too far and he’d be a laughingstock if he cancelled the event. Kind of backfired.
Be sure to check out the video for easily the hottest woman I’ve seen sporting a burka.

Picked up a ‘kwik build’ gingerbread house kit for $8.88 at Sam’s Club. Put it together in a home that was ravaged by hurricane andrew. After many attempts to support the roof with tree cookies, we thought our masterpiece was complete. Then while giving a tour, we noticed a wall was toppled over, surely crushing anyone still inside.
On the bright side, it was 80 degrees outside and I wasn’t in Denver International Airport.
Runs through it’s history in a pretty balanced manner. Interviews with Albert Hoffman, Lord Christopher Mayhew, Ken Kesey and participants in early studies. Called “LSD - The Beyond Within ” I’m not sure what year it was filmed, looks like the 1970s.

A horrible idea for many reasons. Forgot something, you have to do the whole ride over again, or more likely, leave without it. Only want to grab a few things? You still have to ride through the entire store. Can you stop the cart? How do you reach things on the upper levels of the shelves?
If you want to try it out, looks like you’ll have to visit Shenyang, China.

Hardy Wines has launched the Shuttle. Kind of neat. However I’m not so sure drinking from a plastic cup is so much better than straight from the bottle. Socially I suppose it is.
Boingboing posted an article about some coke washing ashore in Hollywood, FL yesterday. Apparently it was 81 pounds and the package was covered in barnacles. When I first moved down here 6 years ago I remember a few packages washing up on Miami Beach at 41st street. Haven’t heard much since though. I guess most are probably picked up or lost in the swamps down in the southern tip of FL.
Check out the full story in the Miami Herald.
On a side note, I noticed wikipedia didn’t have an entry for ’square grouper’ so I added one, we’ll see how that goes. In my quick googling I found that there’s a bar in Jupiter, FL called Square Grouper. Apparently Alan Jackson filmed a music video there. I also came across this amusing fisherman’s tale on about.com.

Visit the Audubon’s Living Ocean’s site, print out a wallet card and the next time you are at a restaurant or in the supermarket, pick out an environmentally responsible species to eat.
I had seen these ’seafood watch’ cards in the past, but was reminded of them when reading “Uncle Mark’s Gift Guide & Almanac” (page 26). Check out the rest of their gift suggestions and general tips here [PDF].

XM radio was fairly lowkey with their Art Basel party at The Sagamore with Yoko Ono. However it still had the South Beach touches. 3 private VIP areas for Yoko, some paparazzi, the star guest showing her face for 5 minutes, standard music(no beatles) and an Ingrid Casares sighting.
Yoko’s video installation played on flatscreens throughout the hotel. Also pictured are Sagamore owners Marty and Cricket Taplin, avid art collectors, who keep the hotel filled with many of their pieces.

Well minus the fermented orange drink and toilet bowl.
“The WinePod integrates fermentation, pressing, and ageing in one elegant unit yet it is simple and easy to use. The WinePod collects and transmits fermentation and temperature data wirelessly to your PC where our software offers winemaking guidance and manages your processes and records.”
bad news though, it’s sold out and when you do get one, it’ll run $3,499. That’s a lot of two buck chuck.

This Tobias Wong Tim E. Dubitsky designer pipe screen is debuting at Art Basel at the J Deitch/Paper Magazine Art Store. I’ll try to pick one up or at least get some photos on Thursday
update: These were actually made by Tim E. Dubitsky and edited by Tobias Wong. Looks like core77 corrected this mistake as well.
