Fly like a weasel

Saban

After Nick Saban’s press conference announcing his departure to Alabama, Dan Le Batard went on the attack blasting Saban’s decision to run to the money:

“You know what he was as Dolphins coach? A failure. A loser. A gasbag. And one of the worst investments Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga has ever made. He was less of a success than Dave Wannstedt and more of a traitor than Ricky Williams. There has been very little in franchise history that came with more expectations and fewer results than this hypocrite who at the end avoided the hard questions one last time.

Talk like a warrior. Behave like a weasel.”

I mostly agree with Le Batard. The Dolphins gave him time and this was their reward. I expected him to stick around at least another year to see if he could salvage his NFL reputation. Saban may bring about his own punishment though, he’ll be living in Alabama the next 10 years!

C’mon, they drove a dumptruck full of money up to his house, what was he supposed to do? The NFL thing clearly wasn’t panning out for him. I always thought he was nuts for taking the job with the Fish to start with, though.

As for the “more of a traitor than Ricky Williams,” at least Saban is “betraying” the team for money and not weed. And would Le Batard be calling out Huizenga for betraying Saban this time next year when Saban would likely have been fired? Doubt it.
Loyalty in the NFL can be ugly. Just look at what loyalty to Millen is doing in Detroit.

weed is a much better reason for betrayal!

I guess my biggest problem with Saban is he so adamantly denied any rumors of leaving and basically called out people asking him about it.

Here’s another good article on the matter:
